A new club in Mayfair with a six-month waitlist before opening. Wanted a brand that justified the waitlist without ever mentioning it.
Members' clubs fail when they advertise. The minute you put a logo on a tote bag, you're 5* hotel chain, not a house. So the brand here is mostly what's missing: no wordmark on the door, no faces in the photography, no public Instagram. The visual system is the upholstery — plaster, mahogany, velvet, brass — because those are the things a member actually touches. The wordmark is treated like a receipt, not an announcement. Everything else has to behave like staff: present, useful, never the centre of attention.
